What a whirlwind weekend we had! Kurtz Racing and Team True took off at 7am Friday to be able to get to little Sahara Dunes in Utah for round 3 of the SRT AMA National Hare and Hound. It was tuff to go the distance as my partner in racing Jeanne Young was not able to attend due to a previous commitment. We made it with an hour to spare for registration and then back to the hotel to get rested for Race day!
Saturday Morning Cody was ready to Shred on Kurtz Racing Team True Racing KTM 105 Super Mini. It was a great day and after walking the Bomb for a good like he was ready. The Flag dropped and it was a great start for Cody, his TBT Racing Suspension let him pin it to be able to get a top 5 at the end of the bomb. After a couple of crazy crashes trying to pass in the Dust he came in 4th after the 1st loop. He was charging hard and on the last lap was able to make the pass for the last spot on the Podium. It was great to see his RadCustomGraphics covered dirt bike on top of the NHHA trailer!
My race started at 12 pm that day and while it was a perfect day, this bomb was intimidating. Over a 1/4 mile of dune grass and drop offs that came out of no where, Needless to say I spent some time in prayer and actually was able to pray over all of us quad racers. The flag dropped and TBT Racing Motor sprang to life and I had a great start. Saw 2 quads take a tumble right in front of me in a bad G out, my Fasst Flexx Bars took it in stride and as they popped up, I kept charging. About halfway through the first loop I found a Pro Quad racer stuck in a tree after blowing a poorly marked 90 degree corner.
I jumped off to help, and this let Rachel who had been on my tail for the last few miles get by.
Put my head down and removed a tear off on my X Brand Goggles, with clear vision I just kept charging and told my self that 1st could be right in front of me. It got hot in the valleys of those steep Mountains but my Moose Racing Sahara Gear kept me cool, I love this gear and how it fits a Big Man like me. My AMSOIL filled quad ran cool as well and never had any issues. With all the Dust I was worried about my air filter but my UNI air filters never even struggled. In the last lap I was able to make 2 passes and i thought it put my RADCUSTOMGRAPHICS covered Yamaha Raptor 700 on top of the box but after the club went through the results I ended up 2nd. Thanks to T&T Automotive for keeping the tires on the TTR war wagon, and to Panic Rev for helping me look fresh. I am still in AWE of how much gear and great prices I can get for my quad from Parts Unlimited. Thanks to RSI Petroleum and Sporty Fuel for the race Gas and to KURTZ Racing for always being there to support me. To GOD be the Glory!
